New Human Health Product Got Start 
From Diamond V^® Technology

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (February 13, 2008)—New products normally come about through extensive market analysis and planning, identifying market needs then developing a product to meet those needs. That’s what makes the emergence of a new human health product—EpiCor^®, now available from Embria^® Health Sciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of Diamond V Mills, Inc.—unique. The product concept originated not as a result of product manufacturing, but from the people actually working in the plant.

Several years ago Diamond V^® management noticed that the employees working in the manufacturing facilities rarely took time off for health-related events, a fact supported through health insurance analysis. While exploring the reasons behind this anomaly, it became apparent that these employees, in essence, were uniquely able to support a balanced, healthy immune system.

After several months of exploration and research, Diamond V came to the realization that these employees were healthier because they came in contact with the yeast fermentation products created during Diamond V’s unique proprietary manufacturing process. With this evidence in hand, researchers carved a path to a dedicated research and development initiative for human health. Later, Embria Health Sciences was created as a separate company under the Diamond V umbrella to continue development.

Embria performed extensive research and development to create a product to address human immune function. That product is EpiCor, a proprietary ingredient rich in nutritional metabolites. Embria’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility opened in September 2007 in Akeny, Iowa .

“With the results we’ve seen so far with our research, and the evidence and testimonials we have from consumers who have used EpiCor, we think the future for this product is tremendous,” says Stuart Reeves, Embria Director of Research and Development. “We’re continuing the research and development model that began at Diamond V to develop more products that meet people’s health needs.”

Reeves says that some consumers have the perception that, since Diamond V is the parent company, it’s acceptable to eat Diamond V products. He stresses consumers should not consume those products. EpiCor was developed specifically for human consumption, and is manufactured in accordance with strict Food and Drug Administration process regulations for human dietary supplementation.
